Our Shepherds:
When we look into the Bible, we see that God wanted for there to be wise, patient and caring leaders in each local group of Saints. He chose Elders to be the men who shepherd the congregation (Titus 1:5, Acts 14:23, Acts 20:28). These men help us grow spiritually and push us develop a deep love for God and His word. We are blessed with three (3) awesome Elders here at Bowdon: Donnie Truett, James Harrington and Bud Benefield (from left to right).
Our Deacons:
While the Elders are shepherds over the spiritual development of the church, there is still day-to-day work that must be done. This is where God’s design for the church offers clarity. We first see Deacons ordained in Acts 6 where men are chosen to watch after the distribution of the needy. They served in this role so that others could dedicate themselves “…continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” (Acts 6:4). At Bowdon, we utilize Deacons in the same way we see in the New Testament. We are blessed with seven (7) Deacons.

Our Preacher: Joshua Posey
Joshua has been preaching since he was 15 years old. Before coming to work with us, he worked with the Lineville church of Christ (2015-2018) as their Preaching Minister.
Shortly after beginning his Bible Degree at Faulkner University, he met his wonderful wife Morghan (Ray). They have been married since 2015 and have three children: Sidon Mark, Anna Capri, and Asher Jude. Joshua holds a Bachelors in Biblical Studies from Faulkner University and a Masters in Ministerial Leadership from Ambridge University.
Outside of ministry Josh enjoys traveling with his family, watching Alabama football, spending time with his friends, and meeting others who love Jesus. You can contact Joshua several ways by clicking the links below:
