During your visit, you may have questions about the things that may be said or done. If this is the case, we implore you to ask us those questions. We believe that all we practice and teach must be rooted in God’s word. We will be more than glad to sit down and talk with you.

Perhaps you are just traveling through our area, or you may live in or near Bowdon. Either way, as the opportunity presents itself, we hope that you will visit with us. When you do visit with us, we want your visit to be both uplifting and profitable. Sometimes, our greatest concern about going somewhere unfamiliar is just that – it is unfamiliar. To allay such concerns, the following things are what you can expect to see during your visit with the Bowdon church of Christ.

Congregational Singing – We will sing songs of praise unto God as instructed in Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16. We do not use mechanical instruments of music in our worship to God in song. The reason is simply that we don’t see anyone in the New Testament who worshipped with instruments. Our desire is to be just like the church you read of in the Bible, therefore, we praise God with our lips, while making melody in our hearts as we sing to God.

Bible-based Preaching - Preaching is something the early church continued in with great diligence (Acts 2:42). Preaching will save those who believe (1 Corinthians 1:21) in that the gospel that is proclaimed is God's power to save (Romans 1:16). The preaching you will hear is not based on man's wisdom or opinion, but rather, we search for book, chapter, and verse for all that is taught. We pray that the sermons you hear will be enlightening and profitable as you seek to serve God.

The Lord’s Supper – Should you be with us on a Sunday, you will find us observing the Lord’s memorial. The unleavened bread and fruit of the vine signify Christ’s body and blood as they were given on the cross for us (Matthew 26:26-29). We observe this memorial weekly (Acts 20:7) as we see the example of in the New Testament.

Giving – The only way the church of Christ collects funds for the work we do is through a free-will offering of the saints. This is the only method authorized in the Bible. We do this on the first day of the week as we find example (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). If you are visiting with us, we are just happy to have you here and we are not asking for any money from you.
